Sports Diver

SPORTS DIVER

Sports Diver level at which BS-AC divers are assessed to be proficient in the skills required to dive to depths up to 30 meters and also act as a buddy to Ocean Divers. Qualification to this level means that member is certified to dive within certain limits.

The trainee must be a member of both the BS-AC and Peterborough Sub-Aqua Club for insurance purposes.

Dive Limits:

	Max Depth: 30M
	Buddy: Any grade

The training for this grade is a set course of:

	6 Classroom lessons
	5 Sheltered water lessons
	5 Open water lessons
	1 Dry Practical Lesson
	Theory Test

The student will also participate in 20 additional open water dives, to become more familiar with the techniques they are learning, before being certified to this grade.

Equipment:

All Sports Divers are expected to acquire their own most of the equipment required for this sport including

	Face Mask
	Snorkel
	Fins
	Wet/Dry Suit
	Buoyancy Compensator
	Air cylinder(s)
	Demand Valves

Other equipment can be provided by the club until the course is completed.

Lionfish Red Sea

Sports Diver is the grade at which the experience of diving truly begins. The Sports Diver will gain many skills to improve not only their own safety and knowledge but also the skills to enable them to safely and quickly assist other divers who get into difficulties.

At this grade the diver will also commence the expansion of his "diving world" with deeper dives and more complicated scenarios such as wreck diving, cave diving etc. They will also become more aware of the marine environment and the various marine flora and fauna.

Dive trips overseas will probably become a regular annual event to such places as the Mediterranean, Red Sea etc. where the thrill of diving in clear, warm water much enhances the sport.
